The lower frame is the foundation of a gyratory crusher: every load generated in the crushing chamber passes through it into the concrete. This week another machined lower frame for a 60-89 MK-I gyratory crusher left our factory - cast in our own foundry, machined and inspected in-house, packed and loaded in a single day.
Machined and laser-verified before paint
After rough and finish machining of the main bore, flange face and mounting holes, the frame was verified with a portable laser tracker. Bore diameter, ovality, flange flatness and hole positions were measured and recorded, so the frame can be matched with its eccentric bushing and bevel gear set before anything leaves the works. The dimensional inspection report travels with the shipment.
Protected for the road
Machined surfaces were coated with anti-rust compound, the bore was closed with a protective cover, and the frame was wrapped in vapour-phase inhibiting (VCI) film. A workshop crane set the frame onto a multi-axle trailer with timber supports under every machined face, and the load was lashed down for the journey to the customer's site.
